My current WIP, work in progress, is a long contemporary romantic suspense set in Colorado. The preliminary title is Homicide In Aisle 13. If it were a movie, it would be R rated. I’ve included a teaser here, and I’d like to know what you think of it. I’d love to hear from you.
Allie Blair, marriage counselor, is tired of losing things. Her keys. Her clients. Her husband. She can’t lose her heart, too. But Greg Weston, the good-looking hunk taking her “What Women Want” class, breaches her defenses when he doesn’t seem to mind that she also keeps finding things. Like dead bodies.
Greg Weston, a police detective on medical leave, is the cop who shot the wrong person, letting a killer escape. Seeking redemption when his cousin is murdered, he vows to prove the guilt of his cousin’s ex, Allie Blair.
But when she becomes the killer’s target, he has to fight a duel between his head and his heart. If he chooses wrong, he could end up dead, but no matter which he chooses, the odds are stacked against their future together.
This is the sixth romantic suspense novel I’ve written, and more will be coming. I also have some paranormal romantic suspense books that have invaded my psyche. Daily, I receive complaints and admonitions from said psyche to rein in the commotion raised by all the characters, but, alas, they don’t listen to me. I’ve learned to listen to them and give the characters what they want. Not right away, of course. I make them suffer and work their way through one obstacle after another. When they learn what was needed to be learned, I keep faith with my characters and give them a happy ending.
I’ve heard it said that every novelist has an overriding theme that weaves through each book they write.
Mine is second chances.
